NEW TECHNOLOGY - AREA 666 - BETA TESTING This section of the website contains links to new technologies I'm exploring for potential inclusion in the website (assuming I ever figure out how to implement them and actually find the time to do this). In effect this is the impossible goals section for the procrastinating webmaster of SMWhisky.com. What kinds of new technology? Actually really simple stuff that probably the average 16 yo could implement in a matter of hours, if not less. However, I'm old and "formally" cut my digital teeth computing on mainframes using card decks back in the early 1970s when I failed out of college as a computer science major after losing my primary programming project my third semester after slipping on ice hurrying to submit my program about 0 minutes before the final deadline. Yep, my 600-line cobol program was scattered across the landscape in front of me... I shrugged and went back to the dorm to forget the horror of the previous 3 days without sleep or bathing. I switched majors and have only been "dabbling" in computer technology since that fateful day. This page demonstrates that quite well... As an aside, this "out-of-highschool" failed educational experiment was actually the origin of my alias "Dr Entropy"... this was my hacking identity back in the days of UNIX, VAX mainframes, cobol, and assembly language. Fortunately I've discarded most of this esoteric training and resurrected this alternate identity in 1993 when looking for an alias for my new cutting edge and fiscally dangerous hobby - single malt whisky. Since I'm confessing my past sins, I was also known as "The Doctor" from 1978 to 1984 before returning to college to study engineering, but that's another incarnation that l'll probably never document. Suffice to say that it made merging into PLOWED a simple thing and a logical extension of the earlier counter-cultural life I lived until I realized that I WAS going to live beyond 30 and that I'd better get my act together fast. And so it goes... NEW TECHNOLOGIES - TESTING TESTING TESTING...
